Why do collision and highway accident cases need 3D laser scanning?

Collision analysis rests on measurements: vehicle crush, roadway geometry, the position of physical evidence, and sightlines. Scenes reopen within hours and vehicles are repaired or salvaged. A 3D laser scan captures the vehicles and scene to millimetre accuracy, preserving a measurable record that feeds directly into reconstruction analysis.

Is collision reconstruction still relevant under BC's no-fault (Enhanced Care) system?

Yes. While Enhanced Care changed how ordinary injury claims proceed after May 2021, reconstruction remains central to criminal matters such as impaired and dangerous driving, road and highway authority liability, product liability against manufacturers, commercial and heavy-vehicle collisions, and out-of-province litigation. We support all of these.

Can you reconstruct what a driver or witness could see?

Yes. Sightline reconstruction is a particular strength. We establish what could be seen from a given position, accounting for obstructions, grade, curvature, and distance, so visibility questions can be tested against measured geometry rather than assumption.

Can you scan a vehicle after it has been moved, repaired, or salvaged?

Where a vehicle still exists, we can scan it at storage or salvage. Where it is gone or already repaired, camera matching can recover accurate measurements, including crush and damage geometry, from existing photographs and video.

Can you work alongside our own collision reconstruction expert?

Yes. We work independently or directly alongside your team, and we can review and independently verify spatial data, models, and findings provided by other parties.

How accurate are the measurements?

Our 3D laser scans are millimetre-accurate. Every figure is drawn from measured data, not estimated. For measurements recovered through camera matching, the achievable accuracy depends on the quality of the source imagery.
